Refinishing restores an existing floor instead of replacing it. For timber, parquet or engineered wood, that usually means sanding back the old coating, filling gaps and dents, then applying stain and sealer or polyurethane. Renovation can go further: replacing damaged boards, levelling a subfloor, or re-polishing concrete and terrazzo.
